In Untitled (Vea) (2004), Dr Lakra creates a tension between the beauty of his subject and the new surroundings that he has penned around her. Her mysterious, faraway gaze is subverted and made grotesque by the addition of a Kiss mask and a body sleeve of tattoos, which Dr Lakra draws on her likeness as if the paper of the canvas is a human skin.
